Still Loving Alexa Chung

I love the femininity of the dress, the drop dead gorgeous color, the draping, and the embellished waist. I almost didn't notice it but:
her skull necklace.

Beautiful contrast.

Target

Took a trip to Target yesterday. Faux fur was EVERYWHERE! I would have loved to buy some but my observations of faux fur in rain haven't been positive. Considering the climate where I live, not a good plan. :(

I did however get an Anna Sui for Target shirt (I'll have to post it sometime) but check out this dress:

The edge of the neckline look kind of like teeth in person [kind of creepy, but too cool to be creepy]. I liked it, mother was not convinced. But she said perhaps if it becomes really cheap. (Likely considering it isn't exactly what the average Target customer is looking for...)

But even more exciting news: RODARTE FOR TARGET!
Designing sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy will be bringing their ethereal sensibility to a wider world when Target introduces Rodarte in December as part of its Go International series of limited collections.
The 55-piece Rodarte line for Go International will launch at most Target stores nationwide and on target.com on Dec. 20, and will be available through Feb. 6. While it may be hard to imagine translating Rodarte’s hand-wrought designs for the mass market, Target claims to have stayed true to the spirit of the luxury-priced label.

“What you’ll notice is an amazing eye for detail,” said Joshua Thomas, a Target spokesman. “It’s very feminine, yet very modern. The collection incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur. The key with Rodarte is layering.”

Prices for Target’s Go International Rodarte collection will range from $9.99 for knee-highs to $79.99 for a leopard print jacket.

Rodarte, which is known for evening clothes, designed “a variety of great holiday dresses,” Thomas said. “There are stand-alone pieces and pieces that can be worn together to create an ensemble by layering different patterns, textures and prints.”

The September Issue

I recently saw the movie The September Issue, a documentary about the largest September issue Vogue has ever produced, September 2007. You may remember it, Siena Miller was on the cover. It was a lovely film, I really enjoy it / highly recommend it.

Grace Coddington and Anna Wintour

Although I liked, watching Anna Wintour work behind the scenes, I loved watching Grace Coddington (the stylist for many of the vogue photo shoots) work.

She began her career in fashion as a model, but stopped after she was in an accident.

The movie highlighted a couple of shoots Grace organized including one about texture, and another couture shoot (absolutely incredible, called Alighting and is in the October 2007 issue) but my favorite was:

Crushed

My grandmother brought this crushed velvet cardigan (hideous?) as a gift and my sister an I couldn't turn her away, and have always been fascinated by how strange the garment is. I harnessed the oddity pairing it with neutral building blocks.

The pictures don't do the color of the shoes justice. They aren't as pink as they appear here, more nude colored.

Valentino -- breathtaking.

I have always loved Valentino, the romantic shapes and fabric. The beautiful colors, and the bags that were everywhere last year. The look has now melded with an edgier style, not as soft as before, but just right. Chiffon and Leather, two of the main building blocks for the Valentino Spring 2010 collection. This is a new generation for Valentino. Not a single red dress, but dresses in nude and shades of grey. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

What tied it all together: THE SHOES. Absolutely gorgeous, I want a pair in my closet. Phillip Treacy was behind this footwear.

I want every single piece on a hanger, in my closet.

So far my favorite show, but perhaps I'll be saying that every time I see another one? Anyway the color scheme and the shoes were fantastic.

Spring 2010

Spring 2010:
Some of my favorite looks from some of my favorite designers.

Lanvin
Loving the draping, and the color in these beautiful looks. The embellishment on the look on the left is to die for, and the curves of the shoulder on the asymmetrical dress. Loved it all!

Hussein Chalayan
The hats with the wide brims-- definitely going to be a purchase for this summer, preferably a white one. They look so sophisticated and chic. On the white dress, I love the detail. Hussein Chalayan referred to it as "Jacob's Ladder" genius.

Beautiful!

Burberry
Season after season, I absolutely love Burberry. This spring, I love palette the color and the feminine silhouettes of all the dresses.

I haven't finished looking through all the spring collections, but expect many more posts like this to come!

I love the sudded jacket she wears in one of the photos, and the shirt with the chains and flowers (?) all over the front of it.
RHINESTONES ON LIPS! I would like to try it. Anyway, love all these photos. AMAZING.

Besides the dot tights, I also love the colors, and draping in the photo.

But hearts. I like them a lot, will be purchasing next time I'm at AA, or maybe if I find tights similar somewhere for cheaper. :)
